Winter—Downtown Willoughby
Willoughby Ohio is a quintessential small city in Northeast Ohio. Similar to many places in our area, it has distinct looks during the various seasons and this time, it’s cold. The first snowfall of the winter blanketed the entire area in 8-12 inches of snow. The white, accented the shops displays as they were setup for the holiday season.
I find it incredible how different the environment looks during different times of the seasons. Not only does night completely change the scenery but winter does also. With white snow on the ground, this surface really catches all the reflected colors from the environment.
I was leaving work, at the height of this snowstorm and really didn’t want to get out and shoot. Not only was I not dressed for it, but wasn’t feeling creative at all. However, after giving in to the urge to go shoot, I decided to stroll through in short to capture the moment.
Promotion: After I culled and developed the raw files, I shared them widely with both the community and business owners on social media and for their use in the upcoming sales season. Happily, they were viewed over 33,000 times and shared quite widely. The primary online community group in the area decided to use the photo of Arabica for their winter cover photo. Additionally there have been a number of requests for postcards, so maybe that will be the next step to look into!
The images were created with the Panasonic GH5, f1.4 and edited in Adobe Lightroom.
